K’NAF COUTURE Kayda Nana Afriyie Frimpong of K’NAF COUTURE graduated with honors at the International Academy of Design with a Bachelor’s degree in fashion design and marketing, in the United States of America. She started her company in 2004 and has since become an extremely proficient and sought after fashion designer.

She sketches, drapes, makes her own patterns as well as sews and always tries to incorporate an element of African print in her designs as a testament to her heritage. Her highly stylish, often custom-made and original clothes are designed to accentuate the female figure, compliment the male build and make you look twice The K’NAF COUTURE designer also derives much of her inspiration from her West African home country, Ghana, its rich culture and its textiles. She is also inspired by fashion greats like Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana, John Galliano, Oscar De La Renta and Anna Sui.

Afriyie counts her work as an intern for Anna Sui, as well as her participation in the designer’s showing at New York Fashion Week as one of the many highlights of her career.

She has been fortunate enough to have lived in Ghana, United States, England and Rwanda and also traveled to other countries worldwide and therefore has an eclectic range of inspiration not just for her designs but her worldview. Raised in a very loving and supportive Christian home, she credits God, her parents, siblings and loved ones, with her company’s success. She is extremely passionate about aiding the needy and underprivileged in her beloved continent, especially uneducated and unemployed women as well as orphans and children in general.

With philanthropy being one of the major driving forces in Afriyie’s life, It’s her ultimate goal to give back substantially through the benevolent efforts of her foundation; The K’NAF - Gye Nyame Foundation, while putting Ghana and Africa on the fashion and socio-economical map. She held the first ever FASHION AID in May 2010 where she auctioned of her latest collection to raise funds for underprivileged children with congenital heart disorder. A percentage of all K’NAF Couture merchandise sales go to the foundation for charitable endeavors.
